Det første forsøket på en fredsslutning innledet i 1991. Det ble avholdt valg, som MPLA vant, og Unita gjenopptok heretter den væpnet kampen. Det ble igjen i 1994 forsøkt en fred med Lusaka-avtalen. FN - soldater ble innsatt for å underbygge avtalen, men det ble aldri oppnådd ro i landet. I 1998 brøt avtalen fullstendig sammen. Unitas leder Jonas Savimbi ble drept i februar 2002, og en ny fredsprosess ble innledet i april 2002. Avtalen bygger på Lusaka-avtalen og medførte, at mange av Unitas soldater er blitt integrert i Angolas hær, FAPLA. De øvrige soldatene befinner seg i særlige leirer.
Arkeologiske undersøkelser har viste spor etter mennesker i i den sørlige delen av landet som kan dateres tilbake til 11.000 f.kr.

I det nåtidige sørlige Argentina bodde indianerstammene Het (Querandíes) og Tehuelches (Aonikenk og Gununaküna). De var før spanjolenes ankomst nomader og hadde ingen nevneverdig utviklet teknologi. Derimot hadde stammene i den nordvestlige delen av landet (f.eks. Diaguitaerne) i 1200 tallet et utviklet åkerbruk med kvegbruk og var særlig på arkitekturområdet høyt utviklet. I det 13. og 14. århundrede ekspanderte Inkariket seg mot sør og omfatta omkring 1450 store deler av det nordvestlige Argentina.

Surprisingly, You didn’t get any flak for espousing the Monkees as worthy Hall of Fame candidates, although Fasang was surprised that Mickey Dolenz was lead singer on so many of their hits.

There were some Mellencamp naysayers.

Who hasn’t heard (and even sung) Miller’s tunes, dating back from the Livin’ in the USA days. she had more hits than John Cougar could ever hope for. And you are also right on the MC5 and Stooges …They jump-started an entire era in rock/punk. The more You think of it, maybeus should be glad the Rock Hall of Fame is in Cleveland and not in Detroit, because You would be embarrassed to call it ‘ours’ the way them do things there.”
